Usually, when a facility is built, the consulting firm will conduct an electrical load study to determine the electrical load, the size of incoming line equipment, and the type of overcurrent protection needed to satisfy code requirements and deliver safe, reliable electric power.
Over time, you may add equipment or enlarge your facility. Although these changes may seem inconsequential, they could affect other facility elements.
When such changes occur, it's vital that you don't ignore the potential impact on your power system. Though an existing circuit seems adequate for an expanded load, it may not be. Perhaps you've replaced your power transformer. What might the expanded load do to the coordination of system protection? Have fuses been blowing or circuit breakers tripping for no apparent reason? Has a fault on a minor circuit caused a widespread plant outage? Do any of the power system conductors seem to be unduly warm? Why?
DYMAX's professional engineering staff can answer these and other questions regarding your power system. DYMAX performs all necessary testing to ensure that your electrical systems operate safely and reliably. We'll even help train your personnel in safe, efficient procedures.
